{invites} grant & danielles wedding shower

{invites} g&d wedding shower

Hello lovely people! I hope you all had an enjoyable long holiday weekend (for those living in the US)!! Ryan and I visited my mother for her birthday and had a blast : ) Today I'm sharing one of the invitations I've recently designed and assembled for a friend's wedding shower. Here are the close-ups...

Ryan drew and designed the tree which I printed onto one of the papers.....and I'm kinda obsessed with it.  Now I'm trying to figure out how to work it into my next piece of art for hanging on our wall at home.

I thought that the saying on the back of the invites went well with the butterflies. Which color is your favorite? I think mine is dark blue. XO

{minibook} hess vacation

{minibook} hess vacation | cover

Today I wanted to pop in and share a super simple minibook that I threw together as a thank you for a friend. I used a really old minibook kit from Polka Dot Whimsy.  It was a fun little challenge to only use the goodies in the kit without digging into my stash.  The flower on the front cover and two of the additional pages are on transparent sheets.  My typewriter was perfect for the journaling, and I also used transparent iridescent embossing powder on the bare chipboard pieces to add a little sparkle.  XO

{april} these days

{april} these days | robin

Just a few of my favorite everyday April snapshots:   A red breasted robin in our cherry tree.  Flaming Parrot and Light Pink Tulips that came home with me from the tulip festival (these really lit up the room).  Our kitchen table, Springtime addition.  A favorite drawing from my little sister, and daydreaming about putting together a photobook with only the best of my family's kid art.  XO

{layout} tulips!

{layout} tulips! | full

Since National Scrapbook Day is this weekend I thought I'd share a brand new layout.   My layout was totally inspired by THIS (It's the Hello Spring layout, which is so lovely).

{layout} tulips! | title

I started by printing a an 8 1/2 x 11 photo with my printer at home.  Ryan just bought be a new one and I was excited to try it out.  I wanted the quality to be similar to the scrapbook paper I was planning to use, so I printed my photo onto the backside of a single sided sheet of older Basic Grey.  The print can out almost identical to the digital version, and was exactly what I wanted.

Next, I decided to add a frame to the center of my photo. I didn't have a large enough stamp so I found a digital frame from HERE, aligned it in the correct position using Photoshop and then printed it directly onto my photo which worked great (just make sure you know which way your printer prints before feeding the paper through).

Originally I wanted to make this post a full step by step, but forgot to take pics once I started putting the rest of the layout together. Here are some of the detail shots of the finished product. There is an insert with journaling that goes inside a vellum pocket.

And I even learned how to tie a French knot using THIS tutorial on YouTube.  Have a great weekend!  Happy scrapping!!  XO
